Saree is an ancient clothing originating from Indian. Its a beautiful clothing and been used since ages and even today saris are being used as a regular wear by most of Indian ladies. There are enormous varieties of sarees available in the market and with all those different types of sarees, you have got a plenty of options to choose from. 

Not all sarees look good on everyone. You have to be able to choose the saris that suit your skin complexion, height, weight and other aspects. Even you have to choose the fabric that is soothing to your skin as per the climatic conditions in your area. At the end Sari and its design should be a complementary to you. Below are some tips for selecting and wearing sarees as per your body type.

If you select the right kind of fabric and drape the saree in right manner, you look much slimmer than your actual body size.

• Buy and use sarees made of light fabrics. Overweight women look good in Georgette sarees, chiffon sarees, crepe sarees and such other lightweight sarees. These sarees when draped can fit close to your skin and body to give you slimmer appearance.
• Try to avoid use of Stiff cotton sarees as they will give you a heavier look.
• If you have love for cotton and other handloom sarees, try those which are in light cotton or those which are mixed with other material. Some sarees of south India like 'cotton silk sarees' (SiCo) will suit you better than the regular and traditional cotton sarees which are heavy.

• Be careful while draping the saree. Like sarees when unnecessarily tucked at various places gives not only untidy look but make you appear fat. Get help and tips from people who can drape the saree well.If you are a Plus sized woman, try using darker colours rather than lighter ones. You can try darker colours for other clothing too.
• Avoid wearing sarees made of glossy material or heavy.
•  You can also try light weight Kanjeevaram sarees and other lightweight silk sarees like pure silk and printed silk sarees with self designs.
